Backup and Restore
Export supported settings and choose which categories to import.
Open Settings → Backup. Export a JSON backup before moving to a new Mac or replacing a setup.
What Is Included
Export saves all supported categories. During import, choose all categories or only those you want to restore.

| General Settings | Supported preferences such as appearance, interface language, recording shortcuts and gestures, clipboard behavior, Auto Send, retention, and Auto Learn configuration. This is not an export of every internal setting. |
| Custom Prompts | Saved custom prompts. Import replaces the existing custom prompt collection. |
| Modes | Saved Mode configurations and shortcuts. Import replaces the existing Modes and repairs prompt references. |
| Dictionary | Vocabulary and Word Replacements. Import merges with existing entries. |
| Custom Model Definitions | Custom transcription definitions, without API keys. Custom enhancement provider definitions are not included. |
What Is Not Included
- Provider API keys and other Keychain credentials.
- License activation.
- History, recordings, and Dashboard session metrics.
- Downloaded transcription or Refine model files.
- Custom enhancement provider definitions.
- Every provider-specific configuration or command setting, including the Local CLI command template.
On another Mac, reconnect providers, recreate excluded custom enhancement connections and CLI settings, download required models, and activate your Mac license as needed.
Restore
- Click Import Settings and select the backup JSON.
- Select the categories to import.
- Complete the import.
Export the destination Mac's settings first if you might need to undo changes. Importing Modes or prompts replaces existing collections; importing Dictionary merges entries instead.
Use Dictionary Import and Export when you only need dictionary data or explicitly want to replace it.
