Getting Started
Installation
Install VoiceInk for macOS and complete setup.
Install the App
- Download VoiceInk from tryvoiceink.com.
- Open the downloaded app.
- Drag VoiceInk to your Applications folder.
- Launch VoiceInk.
If macOS blocks the first launch, open System Settings -> Privacy & Security, approve VoiceInk, then launch it again.
Required Permissions
VoiceInk asks for these macOS permissions during setup:
| Permission | Why VoiceInk needs it |
|---|---|
| Microphone | Records your voice for transcription. |
| Accessibility | Sends paste and auto-send keystrokes, handles global shortcuts, and reads selected text for context. |
| Screen Recording | Reads visible window text for Mode context when Screen context is enabled. |
Screen Recording changes may require restarting VoiceInk before macOS reports the permission as granted.
Complete Onboarding
After the required permissions are granted, follow the onboarding prompts in VoiceInk and complete the setup process. Onboarding helps you choose an initial mode, configure the basics, and get ready to start dictating.
You can manage modes and other settings later in the app.
