Installation
Install VoiceInk for macOS and set up permissions, models, and shortcuts.
Requirements
VoiceInk requires macOS 15 or later. Apple Speech requires macOS 26 or later. Local model performance depends on your Mac; the app recommends cloud transcription on Intel Macs because local models do not work reliably there. VoiceInk Refine requires Apple Silicon and at least 16 GB of memory.
Install the App
- Download VoiceInk from tryvoiceink.com.
- Open the download and move VoiceInk to Applications.
- Launch VoiceInk and follow onboarding.
If macOS blocks the first launch, review System Settings → Privacy & Security, approve the app, and open it again.
Permissions

| Screen Recording | Capturing the active window and extracting text locally for screen context. |
Screen context is optional. macOS may require restarting VoiceInk after permission changes. A supported browser may also request Automation permission when VoiceInk reads its current URL for website triggers.
Complete Setup
Choose a recording shortcut, make a transcription model available, and select it in a Mode. Onboarding uses Parakeet V3 as its local starting point. Cloud transcription and AI enhancement require a working provider connection; enhancement is optional.
Choose Start 7-day Trial during onboarding, or activate a license. The VoiceInk Pro sidebar view manages license activation afterward. Later, Settings → General → Reset Onboarding lets you repeat onboarding on the next launch without resetting all your settings.
